IT’S TIME

TO ACT!

The Green Business Challenge aims to support companies to bring their green ambitions to the next level which actively supports the transition to the green economy. Now it is time for other organizations to step up their game and make an impact themselves, this toolkit will help you to do so and helps you to successfully develop your own Green Business Challenge program.  Sharing the tools to organize a similar challenge will bring the green economy to the next level. The time for passive policies is over, it’s time to act!

ABOUT THE TOOLKIT

This toolkit is for youth work organizations that are planning to organize a GBC and is the product of a collaboration with Learning Hub Friesland, ZUKUNFT.unternehmen and BBENG. In the toolkit you will find an introduction to the Green Business Challenge, a guide to organize your own Green Business Challenge, a framework (models and theories and their integration in the program) and briefings and instructions. In other words, everything you need to know to develop your own impact event.

ORGANIZING AN IMPACTFUL EVENT

We have identified a set of fixed steps which our toolkit will guide you through.

1.

Select your theme to make an impact in your region or desired work field.

2.

Get your stakeholders on board and start planning the Challenge.

3.

Communicate about your Challenge and recruit participants and case owners

4.

Organize, arrange and run your own GBC at the desired dates and locations.

5.

Organize a final event to showcase the results made by the participants for the case owners.

6.

Evaluate the program with stakeholders and identify quick wins and a suitable theme for another edition!

THEME

Essential to the green economy is sustainable development without harming the planet and its environment. This poses many challenges for companies which can be used as a theme for the GBC. For example, the theme of our 2022 edition was circularity. Circularity is all about closing the loop of production so raw materials will maintain their value and residual materials are going back into the loop. This theme could attract challenges such as: reduce waste from production, finding new destinations for waste materials, etc.

SHARING RESULTS

It is all about making an impact, that is what we aim for. However, impact is not something you achieve overnight. Actively communicating about your program to not only your stakeholders or participants, but to a much broader audience will support this. So be very conscious of this and start creating your communication plan early on in the process of organizing your event. Make it an integrated part of your recruitment process. Be very visible during the event and showcase the achieved impact afterwards. This will enthuse more people and get them moving. And above all: if you want to stand out, be creative!
